The National Botanic Garden is rolling out the red carpet for the cast of thousands starring in Wales Wildflower Day.
Sunday July 13th is your chance to mingle with our floral celebs as you explore orchid-rich meadows, and get your eye in for spotting the other stars of our show by learning how to identify Welsh wildflowers.
And don’t forget the stunning supporting cast of bees, butterflies and moths – the pollinators who make all this possible. You’ll get a chance to spend some time in their company, too, with a series of expert-led tours around one of the Garden’s traditionally-managed hay meadows. You will be joined by artists, sculptors and stitchers, keen to show you how wildflowers inspire their creativity.
Organiser Bruce Langridge said: “And all this takes place just a few minutes from the Garden’s Four Seasons restaurant. It’s a great chance to join plant enthusiasts, artists, herbalists and pollinator experts in being inspired by Welsh wildflowers.”
The funs starts with ‘Moths in the Meadow’, when we join moth-trapper Marigold Oakley to see who’s been feeding on our wildflowers overnight.
Bruce adds: “We’re hoping visitors will also bring their sketchbooks, paints and easels, and sit in our meadow and be inspired by our wonderful plants.”
All the Wales Wildflower Activities are free with normal admission into the Garden, which is £8.50 adult, £7 OAPs, £4.50 Child (5-16) and under 5s are free.
