Thousands of flowers will help make Swansea a rainbow of colour this summer thanks to the success of an annual scheme.
Swansea Council has received over 1,350 orders for floral decorations from businesses, community groups and residents across the city as part of its increasingly popular hanging basket initiative.
Pre-made hanging baskets and lamppost brackets have been made available from Swansea Council’s Parks Service for a small fee to help spruce up the city and make Swansea a more welcoming place to live and visit.
Begonias, Surfinia and Diascia are among the flowers included.
Morgans Hotel, Gallini’s restaurant in Swansea Marina and the Bryn-y-Mor public house in Brynmill are among the businesses to take part.
This year is the first time residents have been given the chance to join the scheme and Swansea Council staff are now out and about putting the baskets on display.
Gardening experts will also be on hand throughout the summer to water and maintain the hanging baskets.
Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said:
“The hanging basket scheme has been running for over 20 years and is always popular.
“It’s great that so many have joined the scheme because it combines with other ventures to help make Swansea a more welcoming and attractive city for all.
“We’re lucky to have so many wonderful parks and outdoor spaces within easy reach but schemes like this and Swansea in Bloom add to what’s already available.”
