Fly into Swansea’s future

quadrant_Front_Facade_1Shoppers in Swansea city centre can travel into the future and wander around the city’s new Quadrant bus station.

A special three-minute fly-through of the multi-million pound redevelopment is now being broadcast intermittently on Castle Square’s Big Screen.

The fly-through has been produced to give people an idea of how the new bus station will look when it’s completed next year.

Contractors Wilmott Dixon have finished demolishing the old Quadrant bus station and will now redevelop the site to create a modern hub of transportation to fit the needs of the 21st Century bus passenger.

Swansea Council is behind the project and significant funding has come from the Welsh Assembly Government and the Wales European Funding Office.

The new bus station will include 20 bus bays, three coach stands, a modern passenger waiting area, ticketing services and Shopmobility facilities.

Cllr John Hague, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “The redevelopment of the bus station is massively important both in terms of city centre regeneration and improving the public transport network in Swansea.

“The state-of-the-art fly-through shows people how the bus station will look once the redevelopment is complete and its inclusion on Castle Square’s Big Screen means thousands of shoppers can see for themselves how the finished scheme will appear.”
