Ever wondered what it would be like to work in the Royal Air Force? A group of Coleg Gwent students got their studies off to a flying start when they were put through their paces on a recent overnight visit to an RAF base.
Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Public Services students based at Coleg Gwent’s Usk Campus, travelled to RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire to learn about the officer selection process.
The group of 14 students showed what they were made of in rigorous fitness exercises and teambuilding activities, and proved their staying-power to finish third in a football competition against other colleges also visiting the base.
“The visit allowed students to explore opportunities available in the RAF, and the processes candidates go through to become officers,” said their Tutor Ryan Taylor.
“They thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of being on a RAF base, particularly the leadership activities and the chance to really put their skills to the test.”
