Wales’ Social Justice Minister Carl Sargeant has visited a crime busting project in Mold to congratulate staff and volunteers.
The project in Flintshire is one of 12 pilot schemes funded under the previous UK Government’s Safe and Confident Neighbourhood Strategy. The Welsh Assembly Government endorsed the strategy which looked at how neighbourhood policing can reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
The Minister met with Flintshire Community Safety Partnership, who runs the project, to congratulate staff and volunteers on their progress and discuss the importance of working together to beat crime.
The Minister said:
“I’ve spoken a lot about collaboration over the past few months and I firmly believe that working together is the only way to tackle the causes of crime and anti-social behaviour.
“Flintshire Community Safety Partnership is great example of different agencies working together to combat crime at the source. Staff and volunteers work with the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, the council, Neighbourhood Watch and local residents to identify the issues and look at ways to overcome them.
“The Partnership is making great strides in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour to make our communities a safer place to live and I am delighted to be here today to recognise their achievements so far.
“Crime and anti-social behaviour in all its forms can blight our neighbourhoods and I’m sure that staff and volunteers will continue their good work to make Flintshire a safer place to live.”
