Food Business Operator Fined for Failing to Comply with Hygiene Improvement Notices

Cardiff Council has successfully prosecuted Mr. Asim Iqbal, trading as ROLL CALL, Unit 3 Longcross Court, City Road, Roath in Cardiff, for failing to comply with three Hygiene Improvement Notices.

After pleading guilty to the offences at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court, Mr. Iqbal was subsequently fined £600 on the 24th January 2012, and ordered to pay costs of £500 together with a victim surcharge of £15.

Chairperson of Licensing Committee and Public Protection Committee, Councillor Ed Bridges, said: “This case sends out a strong message to food businesses within Cardiff that we will not hesitate to take legal action which could result in prosecution where breaches of food safety law are found.”

“The Environmental Health Team will continue to ensure that consumers are protected by taking a consistent, appropriate and balanced approach to enforcement.”
