Forestry Commission Wales sets out its direction

Forestry Commission Wales has published its Corporate Plan – Our purpose and direction 2010-2013 – which sets out the organisation’s ongoing work and specific activities for the next three years.

The Corporate Plan, which is updated and published each year, represents FC Wales’s response to the challenges and ambitions of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Woodlands for Wales strategy.

Grouped under four themes – Responding to climate change; Woodlands for People; Developing a competitive and integrated forest sector; and Improving environmental quality – activities are built around ten wide-ranging programmes.

Activities for the coming year include working towards the Welsh Assembly Government’s target to create 100,000 hectares of new woodland over the next 20 years; publishing guidance on increasing the diversity of woodlands; and extending FC Wales’s influence on trees in urban areas.

The updated version uses the same format as the 2009-2010 Corporate Plan and also highlights what was achieved in 2009-10.

This means that FC Wales’s recent achievements and ongoing work can be read about in one document.

The full Corporate Plan and a short summary leaflet can be downloaded from www.forestry.gis.gov.uk/wales.  A hardcopy of the summary leaflet is available from: [email protected] or 0300 068 0300.  Copies in other formats are also available on request.
