Four charged after burglaries in Kenfig Hill area

Police in Porthcawl have arrested and charged four local male youths following two separate burglaries of the KPC (Kenfig Hill, Pyle and Cornelly) Youth Centre.

The first burglary took place shortly after 10.10pm on Friday, March 12th when a flat screen television was stolen from the centre.  The second crime took place at around 2.00pm on Sunday March 14th when the centre was again broken into and a number of laptop computer were removed.

Shortly after the second incident a patrolling Police Community Support Officer confronted the burglars who took flight.  He recognised the youths and was able to pass their descriptions onto other police officers who had arrived at the scene.  The youths were located and arrested soon afterwards.

All four youths have been release on bail.

Porthcawl Neighbourhood Inspector Alan James said:  “Recent figures show a 16 per cent fall in crime in the Cornelly area and the swift action of our Neighbourhood officers in the area resulted in the prompt detection and arrest for these two burglaries.

“We will not tolerate this type of behaviour and we will act swiftly and positively to catch anyone responsible.”
