Fox family’s pirate adventure

Caerphilly’s own ‘Get Active’ family visited Blackwood Miners’ Institute recently to enjoy a popular panto called ‘Potted Pirates’, starring the hilarious Blue Peter duo Dan and Jeff.

This farcical story of pirate life is interspersed with silly songs, pirate raps and an educational slide show perfectly combining adult and children humour.

The Fox family from Blackwood are this year’s ‘Get Active’ family and are enjoying a range of events and activities after winning a special healthy living competition organised by Caerphilly county borough council.

Jake Fox, aged 9, said, “I was a little bit nervous before the show started because I didn’t know what to expect, but I soon started to enjoy myself it was very funny. My favourite part of the show was when we all had to throw balls at Jeff. I enjoyed learning about famous pirates. Dan was very funny he made me laugh lots of times. ”

Brother Cory, 6, commented, “The Potted Pirates show was funny, it made me laugh. I enjoyed throwing the balls at Jeff and my ball hit him on the shoulder. I caught two sweets when Dan threw them out. I had lots of fun and I would like to see the show again. I liked learning about pirates.”

During the show, Jeff a dedicated lecturer on the subject of the Pirates of the Seven Seas was consistently interrupted by wacky crewmate Dan, who gets the most laughs at Jeff’s expense. The fantastic pair brought the show to a close with a karaoke style mega mix of classic songs with a pirate theme, leaving the audience on a high.
