Arts and crafts fun is available to the public in Bishop’s Wood Local Nature Reserve this weekend.
The free event is being held at the back of the Caswell Bay car park on Sunday September 13 between 11am and 4pm.
It will feature a range of stalls and arts experts to give people of all ages tuition and guidance in several disciplines.
Workshops on jewellery-making, furniture-making, felt-making, photography and woodwork are among those being made available in marquees spread across the valley.
A cafe will also be on hand as well a sustainability trail and information on how you can make your home or business more sustainable.
The Bishop’s Wood Local Nature Reserve is owned by Swansea Council.
Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “We have a wonderful mix of beauty spots in Swansea and this event follows on from the success of all the activities at the annual Botanics in Bloom festivities.
“It’s another occasion that offers fun for the whole family in a spectacular setting and I’d urge anyone interested to make a visit to Bishop’s Wood and discover what’s available.”
Bishop’s Wood Local Nature Reserve is made up of 46 acres of woodland and limestone grassland.
It was designated a Local Nature Reserve in 1975, a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 2003 and a Special Area of Conservation in 2004 in recognition of its importance for nature conservation.
Part of the wood is classified as ancient woodland which means it has been wooded since at least the seventeenth century as indicated in the 1673 survey of Bishopston Manor.
The Bishop’s Wood Nature Reserve Roundhouse has won a Lord Mayor’s Design Award in the past in recognition of its imaginative design and use of local materials and skills.
The structure was designed and built by Dafydd Davies-Hughes and was inspired by a study of a medieval cathedral spire.
