Drivers over 60 who live in North Wales are to be offered the chance to attend a free driving workshop.
The workshop, which is funded by the Welsh Government, will focus on developing driver confidence and good driving practice on today’s busy roads. It is being promoted by Flintshire’s Road Safety team on behalf of the North Wales Road Safety Group, in partnership with the Wales Mobility and Driving Assessment Service at Bodelwyddan.
During the workshops drivers will also be able to sign up for an additional free driving assessment, undertaken by professionally trained driving instructors already involved with the scheme. The informal setting of the workshop will also give drivers the opportunity to discuss driving issues that concern them, and how they can be addressed.
The aim of the scheme is to focus and enable mature drivers to stay safer for longer, by minimising risk to themselves and other road users.
The first workshop session will be held at Greenfield Business Centre, Greenfield CH8 7GR on Thursday 27 February 2014 from 10am until 2.30pm. Drivers will be able to view the presentation, and a driving simulator will be available for those wishing to participate. A second workshop will be held in Denbighshire on Wednesday 5 March at Faenol Fawr, Bodelwyddan from10am – 2pm.
Other workshops include Conwy Business Centre, Llandudno Junction, LL31 9XX on Wednesday 19 March 2014 from 10am to 2pm and Gwersyllt Community Resource Centre and Gwersyllt, LL11 4ED on Thursday 20 March 2014 from 10am to 2pm.
