For the fourth successive year, Neath Port Talbot’s Trading Standards Service are holding a Free Electric Blanket test exercise this month in conjunction with the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Last year saw a 60% failure rate with the blankets tested – 20% higher than the national average!
Neath Port Talbot residents are urged to phone (01639) 685678 to make an appointment to have their blanket tested – which only takes approximately 5 minutes to test.
If any blanket fails, consumers will be given a free electric blanket courtesy of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service – subject to them agreeing to a free home-fire safety audit check.
Times, dates and venues for this year’s tests are:-
Monday 26th September – Neath Workingmens Club (9am – 3.30pm)
Tuesday 27th September – Pontardawe Leisure Centre (9am – 3.30pm)
Wednesday 28th September – Sandfields Library, Morrison Road, Sandfields (9.30am – 3.30pm)
Don’t forget, if you can’t attend in person, maybe you can ask a friend or relative to attend for you – making sure they have your permission to agree to a home fire safety check – to get your new blanket if it fails.
