From Newport to Nepal: £200 raised for global projects

Coleg Gwent students who put their best foot forward on a recent charity walk recently presented the £200 they raised to the Moving Mountains Trust.

Swapping salons for the great outdoors, the group of beauty students from Coleg Gwent’s City of Newport Campus took part in a sponsored walk at the Wetlands Nature Reserve in Newport and held a fundraiser event offering beauty treatments and selling homemade cakes.

The £200 cheque was presented to local Moving Mountains Trust representative Andy Hunt.

Students chose to support the charity, which supports various sustainable community projects around the world including Nepal, Borneo and Kenya, by organising the events through their Tutorial Enrichment Programme.

Tutor Denise Isaacs said: “The group did really well and were delighted to present the cheque to Andy, who also gave students a fascinating insight into the work of the Trust.”
