Assembly Member Nick Ramsay is encouraging constituents to drop into their local Citizen’s Advice Bureau if they need help or advice on how to cut their fuel bills.
As part of a third national campaign, bureaux across the UK are supporting the Big Energy Savings Week, launched on Monday, by co-ordinating a number of community events and distributing booklets giving practical advice on ways to save energy.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Ramsay said: “The rising cost of living means that more and more people are having difficulty in paying their fuel bills, with the result that CABS have seen an increase in the number of people visiting their website or calling in at their offices to ask for help.
“I would urge anyone who is worried about energy costs to call at their local CAB where staff can offer useful advice on ways to reduce energy bills and can check whether you are getting any financial support you may be entitled to.
“You can also pick up a booklet, which gives a wide range of advice on how you can get the best deal from your energy supplier, where to find help, practical tips for saving energy and some useful contact numbers. “
Monmouth Citizen’s Advice Bureau, located behind the library in Whitecross Street, is open from 10am – 2pm Monday to Thursday (closed Friday). Phone 08444 77 20 20 (Adviceline Wales).
