Visitors to Swansea city centre can make the most of a feast of festive fun this weekend.
Shoppers can take part in a festive game on Castle Square’s Big Screen and enjoy an outdoor broadcast from The Wave by Wilkinson on Plymouth Street.
Make the Christmas Tree Grow is an interactive game developed by the BBC that sees participants race against eachother in a bid to make their Christmas trees grow to full size.
People taking part have to try to catch falling stars and will see their trees gradually adorned with decorations and lights as they grow.
The game takes place on the Big Screen between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday December 19.
Swansea participants will see how well their game is going thanks to a Christmas Level Spirit on screen that shows how many Christmas trees have been grown.
Brendan Oliver, who developed the game for the BBC, is thrilled to be using city centre big screens to showcase interactive possibilities for the public.
He said: “It’s a great challenge to explore how we can engage the community at these unique big screen sites with interactive applications where people are used to seeing video films and other content being shown.
“I’m sure it will be a lot of fun because it’s very different from interacting with computer games in your own living room.”
Nigel Jones, Swansea Council’s Strategic Events Manager, said: “The Big Screen in Castle Square will get a festive makeover on December 19 and we’re encouraging people to test their skills against their friends and family.
“I’d urge people to take a break from their Christmas shopping and see how they do.”
The outdoor broadcast also takes place on Saturday December 19 but from 10am until noon. Festive stilt walkers will be among the fun as well as reindeer and Jack Frost characters.
