Flintshire County Council, in partnership with The Pennaf Housing Group, has been successful in securing almost half a million pounds of additional Welsh Government funding, to be spent on the redevelopment of the former Youth Club site on the Prince of Wales Avenue in Flint.
The Welsh Government has awarded a total of £453,734 of funding to the scheme. It follows Welsh Housing Minister Huw Lewis’s announcement last December that additional funding of £9.26 million was available for the provision of approximately 130 new affordable homes across Wales.
The new development in Flint will consist of nine two-bedroom apartments, two of which have been specificially designed for wheelchair access. The Pennaf Housing Group has awarded the construction contract to Lovell Partnership and work will start on-site by the end of March.
Executive Member for Housing at Flintshire County Council, Councillor Helen Brown said:
“This additional funding is welcome and will contribute to the Council’s strategic priority with the Flint Regeneration Project; it will boost our local economy whilst providing some job and apprenticeship opportunities.”
