Cardiff University is this week home to two major entrepreneurship conferences.
From 1-3 September, educators, students and entrepreneurs will be descending on Cardiff to take part in the International Entrepreneurship Educators Conference, the premier national and international conference on enterprise and entrepreneurship education.
Providing a platform where entrepreneurs can challenge the University sector in open debate, decision-makers can hear of the developments in enterprise education – and the challenges for the future.
On 2 September, a unique Leaders Forum will also be held as part of the conference organised by the Welsh Assembly Government. The Forum will bring together leaders from education and business to debate the issues facing organisations working within the entrepreneurship agenda, with a particular focus on the impact of the current climate, in line with the main conference theme: ‘Action in Enterprise Education’.
Opened by the Deputy First Minister, Ieuan Wyn Jones, keynote speakers will include Deputy Minister for Science, Innovation and Skills Lesley Griffiths. Learning from the Leaders Forum will, along with the entire conference, be drawn together into the “Cardiff Concordat” document which will inform stakeholders and shape national thinking in entrepreneurship and enterprise when published after the conference.
Catherine Bushell, the University’s Student Enterprise Officer said: “Cardiff University has a growing culture of entrepreneurship education, and of fostering an entrepreneurial culture among our staff, so we are pleased to be hosting such an influential conference. This is a great opportunity to showcase how Wales has strength in this area.”
Both events will take place at the University’s Julian Hodge Building.
