The Farmers’ Union of Wales today welcomed the Welsh Assembly’s decision to extend the deadline for the return of the transitional Tir Cynnal agreement forms from the end of this month until November 30.
“Following representations made to the Assembly, the FUW welcomes this news as we have received a number of queries from farmers about the implications of signing the transitional agreements in light of the Assembly’s intention to phase out dual claims by 2012,” said FUW’s senior policy officer Rhian Nowell-Phillips.
“Whilst we have received assurances that the transitional agreements will not be affected by these proposals, the extension to the deadline will allow farmers more time to consider their options.”
