Gallery wants your work

Some of Gwynedd’s artists and art associations can soon have the privilege of exhibiting their work at Oriel Ysbyty Gwynedd.

Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Unit is working alongside Ysbyty Gwynedd on The Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board Arts in Health & Wellbeing Programme by looking for a series of quarterly art and craft exhibitions for a new formalised gallery space at the Ysbyty Gwynedd’s main entrance area.

This new initiative is part of a wider arts in health and wellbeing programme to which there are many exciting and innovative projects in which the arts are used to enhance healthcare, to promote wellbeing and to improve community relations and communication. Some examples currently include arts workshops, musical performances and an artist in residency scheme.

The aim of this exhibition programme is to enhance the healthcare environment for the benefit of everyone using the hospital as well as offering artists an opportunity to exhibit their artwork to a large number of people who use the hospital.

Gwawr Wyn Roberts, Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Development Officer said:

“This is a great opportunity for Gwynedd’s artists to reach a wide audience with their work by displaying them in an exhibition at Ysbyty Gwynedd’s main entrance.

“Individuals or art associations can apply and I hope that many people will take advantage of this special opportunity.”

The Oriel Ysbyty Gwynedd is inviting individual artists or artist groups, both amateur and professional, to submit an exhibition proposal to the Ysbyty Gwynedd Gallery selection panel for the 2012 exhibition programme by Thursday 1 September 2011.

Exhibiting artists will be expected to sign an exhibition contract and to ensure their artwork is insured. Exhibitors will be responsible for the delivery and collection of their artworks.

To submit a exhibition proposal please email your CV, a PowerPoint presentation with 10 images to represent the artwork you wish to display and a covering letter to the attention of Gwawr Wyn Roberts, Gwynedd Council’s Community Arts Development Officer [email protected].
