It’s time to mooch with your pooch at the National Botanic Garden of Wales with the return of Doggy Days.
The Carmarthenshire attraction has three dates for the diaries of dog-lovers: Friday June 6, Friday July 11 and Saturday September 20, which follow similar ‘trial’ days last year and earlier this.
Curator Simon Goodenough explained that Garden bosses had been given ‘paws’ for thought by would-be visitors: “The most frequently asked question by people planning a visit here is: ‘Are dogs allowed?’ so we are really reacting to public demand by holding these special days.”
Simon added that, normally, only guide dogs are allowed on to the 600-acre site, which includes a national nature reserve.
He added: “Because this is not the norm, we are asking people to act responsibly and be considerate as we are not geared up for poop scooping. There are some basic rules, too: such as dogs being kept on leads and that the leads be of the non-extendable type. We also ask that dogs be kept off the flower beds, kept out of the buildings and that owners clear up after their pets.”
The National Botanic Garden is open from 10am until 6pm. There is no entrance fee for dogs.
