Commenting on the publication of the Welsh Government’s Final Local Government Settlement, Montgomeryshire AM, Russell George said:
“This is another tough financial settlement for Powys. This cut matched by the Welsh Government’s failure to freeze Council Tax is going to pass the burden of funding essential services on to hard-pressed families.
“It is shameful that Welsh Ministers blocked Councils from freezing Council Tax, despite having received £39million to pay for it from the UK Government.
“With such a squeeze on funding from the Welsh Government, Councils are now faced with the difficult task of delivering efficiencies to limit the burden of Council Tax rises on taxpayers.”
