Firefighters from Rhondda Cynon Taf’s twin towns Nurtingen and Ravensburg have enjoyed their first exchange visit to South Wales.
Rhondda Cynon Taf’s Mayor Cllr Simon Lloyd greeted them at an official reception – and they also had a visit to Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare.
Nurtingen has been twinned with Pontypridd since 1968, while the link with Ravensburg was established by the former Cynon Valley Borough Council in 1993.
Mervyn R Pugh, chairman of the Rhondda Cynon Taf International Links committee, and Sian Vowles of the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, helped set up the firefighters’ visit.
Mayor Cllr Lloyd said: “The aim was to establish links between groups of young firefighters here with similar groups in our German twin towns. We hope some of our young, Welsh firefighters will be able to visit our German twin towns some time in the future.
