Tickets are now available for a series of breathtaking concerts at Swansea’s stunning Brangwyn Hall.
Messiah is returning on Saturday December 19 at 7.30pm to mark the 250th anniversary of Handel’s death and a Christmas by Candelight concert is being held on Wednesday December 23 at 7.30pm.
The Messiah performance will be conducted by John Hugh Thomas and will feature Soprano Elin Manahan Thomas, Alto Rachael Lloyd, Tenor Robin Tritschler and Bass-baritone Darren Jeffery.
They will be joined on stage by Sinfonia Britannica of London- a period instrument ensemble made up of some of the country’s finest players.
Swansea Bach and members of Côrdydd, whose conductor Sioned James is a past member of the Bach Choir, will also perform. Tickets cost from £10 to £20.
The Christmas by Candlelight concert will give people a chance to listen to a collection of music about Christmas. It will be introduced by Alwyn Humphreys and will feature the Chamber Orchestra of Wales and guest soprano Ros Evans.
Seasonal treats such as mulled wine and mince pies will be made available. Tickets are £11.50 and £9.50 for concessions.
Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “The Brangwyn Hall is a fantastic venue for classical music and these two events have become a hugely popular feature of the annual calendar at the attraction.
“They give people the opportunity to savour a wonderful atmosphere and enjoy first class performances in the build-up to Christmas.”
Tickets for both events are available to buy online at www.swansea.gov.uk/brangwynevents or from the Grand Theatre Box Office on 01792 475715.
