Neath Port Talbot Libraries will be celebrating National Bookstart Day between the 14th and 16th June.
The theme for this year’s events is “At the Seaside”, and Council Leader Ali Thomas, local families and Bookstart Bear himself will be attending the seaside themed Song and Rhyme sessions in Briton Ferry at 2.15pm on June 14th and in Cwmavon Library at 10.30am on June 16th.
This year’s National Bookstart Day will see more than 4,000 seaside themed events, storytelling, singing and rhyming sessions taking place across the country. Bookstart aims to help every child in the UK to develop a lifelong love of books and offer millions of children and parents the chance to discover the joy of reading together.
Council leader Ali Thomas said, ” Bookstart is an invaluable way of bringing families together through reading and storytelling. It is beneficial to both child and parent developing reading skills whilst putting aside some dedicated family time.”
A free specially commissioned “At the Seaside” booklet will be handed out at events along with seaside themed thyme sheets.
Further events will be held at:
Neath Library 10.30am on June 14th
Pontardawe Library 10.30am on June 15th
Port Talbot Library 2.00pm on June 16th
