Get Walking with Caerphilly Challenge Series

CaerphillyTo mark the end of Get Walking Week (May 3-10) Caerphilly County Borough residents are being encouraged to enter the Wild Boar Challenge on Saturday 10th May.

The Caerphilly Challenge Series, an annual event, encourages people of all ages and abilities to “Get Walking”, with a number of different walks of varying length and difficulty. This year the challenge will begin at Rhymney Comprehensive School and will lead participants along the Upper Rhymney and Sirhowy Valley with its challenging terrain and commanding views.

While entry for the longer 22, 14 and 9 mile walks has now closed, the public can turn up and take part in a series of shorter 1 to 5 mile healthy walks through the local forestry and along the cycleway. There is no charge for these walks, just turn up and fill in a registration form and be ready to walk for 11am.

The 1 to 5 mile walks also have no minimum age restrictions, so there is nothing stopping the whole family coming to enjoy a leisurely, guided stroll along the banks of the Rhymney River.

The event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Countryside and Landscape Service in conjunction with the Aneurin Bevan Health Board and other partners.
