Get your local General Election results at Council’s special elections website

Swansea Council is going online with a special election results website as the residents of Swansea East, Swansea West and Gower vote for their MP.

Three seats are being contested in this area and the counting will begin shortly after the polls close on Thursday, May 6th, at 10pm.

The council’s interactive election results web pages aim to give voters accurate up-to-the-minute information on who’s won, the full results for each of the three constituencies as well as details such as turn out.

Finding out if the results are in and who has won will be easy – the interactive map will show each of the constituency areas as grey while the results are awaited.

When the result is in that area of the map will change to the winner’s party colours and a click on that constituency will bring up the facts and figures of voting in that area.

The website follows the popularity of similar on-line results pages in recent years.

The results will also be available through the council’s twitter pages.

Swansea Council Mandy Bebb said that the council’s General Election web pages were already proving popular with the public seeking information on everything from postal voting to how to vote at a polling booth.

She said: “We hope that the results website and Tweets will be informative and encourage people to be even more interested in elections and democracy at work.”
