Two out of three teams of students from Glamorgan Business School have made it to the semi-finals of a global student competition.
The high profile competition organised by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) was open to students from around the world to address some of the challenges facing young undergraduates and graduates.
Teams from Glamorgan are taking part in collaboration with Canadian and American students who represent partner colleges and universities of the Glamorgan Business School.
The first team is made up of Jake Jones and his Canadian counterparts Jeff Palmer and Eryk Gabriel of Fanshawe College, London, Ontario. This team was entered for the challenge entitled “Call me in 2020” which asked students to consider the challenges of 21st century communications.
Working under the title of “What if your ‘thumbs up’ could shape the world”, Jake, Jeff and Eryk have made it through to the semi-finals.
Joining Jake and his Canadian friends are Sajid Ali and Jonathan Hill of Glamorgan Business School and Chris Maley and Ben Booska of Clarkson University, New York State, USA. This team were entered for the challenge entitled “Move It: The Future of Transportation”. Sajid, Jonathan, Chris and Ben are competing under their title of “Revolutionary Trains & Tubes” which involves minimising air resistance and speeding yet greening train and tube travel.
Amanda Jones, first year tutor on the Business Degree Programme said “Jake, Sajid and Jonathan’s experiences will be felt among the wider student population. The Business Degree programme will benefit immensely from their experiences in this competition”.
