Glyn Davies, Conservative MP for Montgomeryshire, has expressed serious concern over proposed funding cuts to Citizens Advice Bureau services in Powys.
As part of Powys County Council plans, which will be put to a vote on Tuesday 18th February, the service could receive a cut in the region of £100,000. Powys Citizens Advice Bureau has reacted claiming they would be forced to close in Newtown, Brecon and Ystradgynlais.
Glyn Davies said:
“I am contacting Powys County Council to express concerns about the proposed cuts to this invaluable service.
“My office works closely with CAB and we regularly refer people to them for their expertise on a whole range of issues.
“Citizens Advice services are needed more than ever in Powys and to lose them would be disastrous for mid-Wales. It would impact on anyone requiring free, independent and confidential advice. In particular, this change would impact the most vulnerable more than anyone else and that is of huge concern.”
