Glyn Davies, Conservative MP for Montgomeryshire, has welcomed Powys County Council’s Local Development Plan, which could see up to 5,000 new homes built across Powys over the next decade.
Powys County Council will now be consulting on its Deposit Powys Local Development Plan (LDP), which is designed to provide opportunity for building in the county through to 2026. The Council has made land allocations to supply 5,000 new dwellings under the plan.
A six-week consultation period will start on July 28th and ends on September 8th. More information on the LDP can be found at www.powys.gov.uk/ldp.
Commenting on the LDP, Glyn Davies MP said:
“I am pleased that Powys Council is moving forward with its Local Development Plan, which identifies land on which up to 5,000 new homes could be built across the area over the next ten years.”
“Catering for new homes will be vital for Powys, including Montgomeryshire, through the next decade to satisfy existing demand; and to accommodate expected growth in the economy. As the UK recovers from recession, it’s important that Powys is in a position to take advantage.
“While development is important for Montgomeryshire, it must be in the right place, and win support of local populations. Resident’s views and concerns must be listened to during the consultation period. In particular, we must take full account of factors such as flood risk areas and access roads.”
