Blaenau Gwent Council has approved a legal agreement that will see council housing transfer to community housing provider Tai Calon.
Last year 72.9% of tenants who voted in a poll were in favour of the transfer.
Tai Calon expects to invest £111 million to bring over 6,000 homes up to the new Welsh housing quality standard.
Coun John Mason, Blaenau Gwent Council’s Executive Member for Housing said:
“This is going to benefit all our tenants – £111million will be spent in the first five years to bring improvements to homes and neighbourhoods.”
Jen Barfoot, Chief Executive of Tai Calon Community Housing said:
“This is fantastic news for the tenants and communities of Blaenau Gwent. We can now get to work delivering the promises made to tenants through the offer document.”
