Plans for a children’s adventure play area in Ammanford have been given the go ahead.
Go and Play applied to the county council for planning permission for a change of use of land behind the Alan Payne factory off Pantyffynnon Road from agriculture to community use including 44 allotments and the play area.
An officers’ report to Tuesday’s meeting of the planning committee said that Communities First would be responsible for the site. It had been allocated for employment use but as the Alan Payne land had been freed for such use after the demolition of the factory it was acceptable for the other land to be put to community use.
“A key theme running through the relevant policies for such an application is that the site should be sustainable and be easily accessible by walking, cycling or public transport. The proposed application does this, whilst not promoting car use at all.
“It utilises a space that is to be used for the benefit of the community in a sustainable manner, extending the facilities available to all age groups of the community,” the report added.
