Good health to Gwynedd

People living in Gwynedd are being encouraged to take the first steps to getting in shape by joining the National Healthy Living Week, between 19 and 25 September.

There are several local activities across the county which are aimed at helping people, of all ages and abilities, to make small changes to their lives which could improve their health.

Llinos Owen, Gwynedd Council’s Health and Well-Being Facilitator, said:

“The Healthy Living Week is a great way to kick start a new way of life with plenty of fun events, which could spark an interest in people to enjoy more and more activities.

“The important thing to remember is that improving your health is not about changes you make during one week, but about changes you make for life. This can vary from taking more exercise, taking up a new sport, making changes to what we eat and drink and giving up smoking.

Gwynedd Council offers a wide range of services which could help you on your way, such as the Health Challenge Gwynedd website or visit your local leisure centre to see what activities, lessons and clubs are on offer.

“Small changes can make a world of difference to everyone’s health.”

In addition to the Healthy Living Week, people can get ideas to help them and their families to eat well, move more and live longer from the Change4Life scheme. To register, and to receive an information pack, visit the website  www.wales.gov.uk/change4life
