‘We want your Gripes’ is the message from the North Denbighshire Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team who have commenced a new community engagement process called ‘Grab a Gripe’.
For one day every three months, the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in the communities of St Asaph, Bodelwyddan, Rhuddlan, Dyserth, Tremeirchion and Bodfari. Their aim will be to try and speak with as many members of the community as possible.
Sgt Stephen Roberts said: “Our aim is to record all of your gripes. At the end of the day all of the issues you have raised will be looked at and the three most popular gripes for your community will be created as the Policing Priorities for the next three months.”
“The team will repeat the process every three months for each community, so keep an eye out for us and give us your gripes.”
During the first meeting held recently the team spoke to 120 residents from Bodelwyddan.
And as a result of the meeting the three Policing Priorities for Bodelwyddan for the next three months are:
- Vehicles speeding into the village
- Anti-social behaviour in the Coronation Close area
- Young people congregating by the shops.
Sgt Roberts added: “It is not unlawful for young people to congregate by the shops, but it is intimidating, and we will be trying to find somewhere for the young people of Bodelwyddan to hang out!”
Further dates when the Neighbourhood Police Team will be in the communities will be publicised in each area.
Officers ask three simple questions. No names or personal details are requested and no specific address details are asked for. At the end of the day all gripes for each community are looked at, and the top three recorded as the policing priorities for that area for the next 3 months.
