William Graham AM today welcomed the Ministry of Defence’s decision to award Newbridge-based General Dynamics UK with a demonstration phase contract, worth around £500 million, to help equip the British Army with a fleet of new SCOUT combat vehicles.
‘I congratulate General Dynamics on their success in gaining this contract that safeguards 250 jobs in South Wales East and particularly welcome the news that up to
up to 200 more highly skilled engineering jobs will potentially be created at its sites at Newbridge and Oakdale.‘
The Conservative AM for South Wales East continued:
‘These are precisely the sort of hi-tec jobs that we need to attract to the region and is further evidence of the burgeoning reputation that Gwent is beginning to enjoy as a location for defence engineering projects’.
