More than 25,000 people have flocked to Swansea’s Grand Theatre to see the annual pantomime – and there are still 17 more performances to go.
This year’s offering of Sleeping Beauty opened to fantastic reviews in December and is continuing to impress into 2010.
The show stars Malandra Burrows (Emmerdale), Andrew Agnew (PC Plum from Balamory), Helen Fraser (Bad Girls), Lewis Bradley (Any Dream Will Do), Kevin Johns as Nurse Nelly and Nia Jermin as Sleeping Beauty.
This year’s spectacular runs until Sunday January 17th 2010 and even the recent wintry weather has not stopped the show or prevented audiences attending for a matinee or evening of fun.
A theatre spokesperson said,
“The public feedback this year has been great, with glowing comments about the talented cast, the special effects and the overall production, even when the snow came down this week the cast and staff all got here so the shows could go on. Sleeping Beauty runs until Sunday, 17th January, so there is still plenty of time to see this year’s show.”
Kevin Johns, who plays pantomime dame Nurse Nelly said,
“Despite the bad weather conditions, the show will continue and although some people haven’t been able to attend, the audiences were electric, and as I would say, there’s no business like snow business”
Following Sleeping Beauty’s success the theatre is already looking forward to next year’s pantomime spectacular which will be Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and will open on 15th December 2010.
