Bridgend County Borough Council is pleased to announce that the recent Christmas pantomime, ‘Beauty and the Beast’ at the Grand Pavilion in Porthcawl, has broken box office records with 15,000 people visiting the seaside theatre from 12 December 2009 to 3 January 2010.
Presented by Imagine Theatre and the Council’s Grand Pavilion, the show starred Disney Channel favourite Neil Roberts and Real Radio’s Tony Wright. Packed full of comedy, audience participation, song and dance, it has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Councillor Lyn Morgan, Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, said: “The panto proves to be great family entertainment with audiences ranging from toddlers through to grandparents. The Christmas pantomime is the main event of the year for the Pavilion and we are pleased it has attracted so many people from within and outside of the borough.”
Director Rob Marsden said: “The cast and crew have enjoyed a great run in Beauty and the Beast.
We had plenty of fun both on stage and behind the scenes. It has been great to see so many people
walk through the doors of the Grand Pavilion and I hope to see everyone back again in 2010!”
Preparations for this year’s Christmas pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ from 11 December 2010 to 2 January 2011 are underway. A firm family favourite with plenty of action, adventure and fun, tickets will be on sale from Monday 18 January and are available by calling the box office, Tel: 01656 815995 or by booking online at www.grandpavilion.co.uk.
