The first ever P1 Welsh Grand Prix of the Sea will power into Cardiff Bay this weekend for a double bill of powerboat and jet ski racing as the Cardiff Festival action steps up a gear.
Ten P1 Panther race boats and more than thirty jet ski riders will take to the water in the third round of this year’s P1 SuperStock and AquaX Championships. Fast, furious and free to watch, P1 SuperStock is a one-design powerboat racing series in which success is all down to driver ability, whilst the P1 AquaX national championship is a personal watercraft series for stock skis.
The two day race programme starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday July 26 and midday on Sunday July 27 with RIB displays and jet ski freestyle entertainment at Mermaid Quay. With all the action taking place close to shore and great vantage points at Britannia Park and Barrage Walk the P1 Welsh Grand Prix of the Sea is not to be missed.
Cabinet Member for Community Development, Co-operatives and Social Enterprise, Cllr Peter Bradbury, said: “It’s going to be a high octane weekend of racing and I for one can’t wait. With Cardiff Bay Beach also returning to Roald Dahl Plass from Friday the Cardiff Festival is really hotting up.”
