The Gwynedd Environmental Partnership will hold its annual conference at Portmeirion on Thursday, 8 March.
This year’s theme is The Value of the Landscape, and is aimed at encouraging people to be enterprising and to inspire them to celebrate and realise the value of Gwynedd’s heritage and landscape.
The highlight of the 2012 conference will be presentations by individuals and businesses which have successfully used the county’s natural assets to be successful – for instance the beautiful landscape, natural resources and traditional industries – without harming the environment.
The main speakers will be:
- Robin Llywelyn, managing director of Portmeirion, the Italianate village, which is a major tourist attraction
- Iola Huws of Pant Du vineyard in Dyffryn Nantlle, which is successfully producing wine and fruit juice
- Representative from the Coastal Excellence Centre in Aberdaron, which aims to boost enterprise in an environmentally sensitive area
Delegates will also have the opportunity to learn about support and grants available to entrepreneurs in Gwynedd from Annog business consultancy, Gwynedd Council and the Snowdonia National Park Authority.
The Gwynedd Environmental Partnership is aimed at raising awareness about green issues in Gwynedd among residents, the business sector and service providers. This includes promoting the economic, social and health benefits of the environment.
