An exciting new free family festival is coming to Crosskeys next weekend (Saturday 15th May) and the event promises to offer something for people of all ages.
The ‘Big Green Festival‘ takes place at Waunfawr Park on and boasts live music, sporting sessions, animal displays, healthy activities and even worm charming!
Beach lovers will get the chance to build a sandcastle or just sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere at a special ‘urban beach’ that will also be created on the site!
The popular park has recently been awarded Green Flag Status, so this new festival is a perfect way to promote a range of activities that are ‘green’, healthy and fun.
Leader of council, Cllr Lindsay Whittle, said, “We are delighted to host this new event in Crosskeys and hope it will attract families from across the county borough. Waunfawr Park is a fantastic venue and the Big Green Festival will help showcase this popular community park – I hope to see you all there!”
Sports fans will be spoiled for choice thanks to football skills with representatives from Cardiff City Football Club, rugby sessions with the Gwent Dragons and golf activities in support of Ryder Cup 2010.
A range of partner organisations are supporting the festival and will have stalls at the festival site on the day. Eisteddfod 2010 and Menter Iaith Caerffili will be promoting Welsh language and culture, and other agencies such as Gwent Police and the Crosskeys and Pontywaun Partnership are also involved.
