There was plenty of noise in Gwynedd recently as some of the county’s young musicians showcased their talents in a Battle of the Bands competition.
Two bands have performed on the stage in the Y Gell, Blaenau Ffestiniog – Swn.A.Mi with band members from all over Meirionnydd and Y Saethau from the Caernarfon area. Judging the performances were Gai Toms and Paul Thomas and although it was very close, Y Saethau took away first prize.
The night was arranged by Gwynedd Council’s Youth Service as a local round for C2 Radio Cymru’s national Battle of the Bands competition. Y Saethau and Swn.A.Mi will now go on to compete in the regional round of the competition against other groups in north Wales on 25 February 2011.
Edna Jones, from Gwynedd Council’s Youth Service said:
“Promoting and supporting contemporary culture is very important to Gwynedd Council and the Battle of the Bands night was a great opportunity for the Youth of the county to showcase their musical talents.
“Some of Wales’ best bands have come from Gwynedd, and who knows, Y Saethau or Swn.A.Mi will be the next big thing to come from the county.”
Best of luck to both bands in the next round.
