Gwynedd Council will concentrate business support on the most relevant fields thanks to the results of a recent survey with the sector.
Over the last few months, the Council’s Research and Information Unit and the Business Support Unit have been undertaking a county-wide survey – and the results will help Council officers’ understanding of the opinions of the business sector regarding the local economic climate.
Almost 300 businesses across the county took part in the survey which was held during April and May 2012. It is also hoped that their involvement will promote the Gwynedd Business Network which has approximately 500 local business members.
The Council now has the latest data on the business sector’s opinions regarding important matters such as employment, training, recruitment and business growth. The findings from the survey can be used as a basis to implement change and to deliver support to companies.
Councillor John Wynn Jones, Cabinet Member responsible for the Economy said:
“The information we collect directly from businesses is essential so that we can tailor our plans to support local companies. The economy is always changing and it is therefore essential that we can provide services that respond to this.
“The Council is committed to doing all we can to help the business sector in Gwynedd – we understand how important it is to keep our communities alive during difficult periods like these.
“I’d like to thanks everyone who took the time to complete the survey and we will be urging more people to participate in similar scheme in the future so that we can continue to provide the best possible service.”
Gwynedd Council will be undertaking another survey in October and November 2012 – this survey will concentrate on businesses that employ more than 50 workers. This will improve the Business Unit’s understanding of the differences in the experiences of the county’s small and larger businesses.
The full results of the survey are available on the Gwynedd Council website, visit www.gwynedd.gov.uk/research for more details.
