Gwynedd Consultancy has been named as one of the best engineering and construction consultancies in the UK.
The Gwynedd Council service has been shortlisted in the Medium Consultant of the Year category for the annual NCE/ACE Consultants of the Year awards, which are to be held at a glitzy London ceremony hosted by Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis at the end of March.
This nomination means double celebrations for Gwynedd Consultancy as it marks its 15th anniversary this year. The service has grown and developed significantly over this period and the fruits of the staff’s labours have been recognised by this national award.
Gwynedd Consultancy is unique to the area as both a council service and as a business – it carries out work for the Council as well as winning private contracts as an independent construction and engineering company would.
Gwynedd Consultancy has been nominated for this prestigious industry award for its outstanding performance throughout 2010 – an incredibly tough year for the Construction and Civil Engineering industries.
Councillor Gareth Roberts, Gwynedd Council’s Environment Portfolio Leader, said: “I am delighted that Gwynedd Consultancy has been nominated for this award, it shows that Gwynedd services are as good as – if not better than – large private sector trading companies and underline’s the Council’s commitment to delivering value for money services for ratepayers.”
“Gwynedd Consultancy’s place in the local economy is invaluable. It means that the Council does not have to outsource when carrying out major contracts, resulting in money staying within the local economy.”
Huw Williams, Head of Gwynedd Consultancy, added: “Being considered for this award is truly the icing on the cake in our anniversary year. The service prides itself in being able to provide high quality jobs and career options for local people, and all the staff’s hard work has paid off with this nomination.”
