Plantasia, Swansea city’s indoor leisure centres and the Grand Theatre are the top quality destinations for children looking for indoor fun this half-term.
The Grand Theatre is throwing open its doors to youngsters who want to try their hand at circus skills with Jimmy Juggles on half-term Thursday and Friday.
While youngsters who want to be transported to an entirely different world need go no further than Plantasia which is offering an exciting day out with its famous Animal Antics events.
Cllr Graham Thomas, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Leisure, said: “Swansea’s got an eclectic mix of opportunities this half-term that are well beyond ordinary days out.
“The weather can be a bit challenging this time of year but there’s plenty to do indoors and much of it’s available for free.
“On top of that half-term includes the countdown to St David’s Week which starts on February 26 and includes a whole range of Welsh-themed events and activities to celebrate March 1.”
Plantasia’s Animal Antics gives young children the chance to see and handle all sorts of jungle creatures including spiders, giant African snails and millipedes as well as lto earn about life in the rainforests of the Amazon.
Not surprisingly with a name like his, Jimmy Juggles will be offering learners the chance to get to grips with juggling but also he’ll be throwing in top tips on other circus skills like spinning plates, trapeze, silks and general performance techniques and choreography.
For those wanting an active half term, Active Swansea leisure centres, which include Penlan, Penyrheol and Morriston Leisure Centre, have a host of activities to get the kids fighting fit. Kayaking, water polo and swimming lessons are just some of the water-based activities while people can also enjoy badminton, football, gymnastics and bouncy castle sessions.
Also on offer are storytime and other events at Swansea libriaries, arty fun at Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and events at Brynmill Park’s Discovery Centre.
