Cllr Ron Davies, CCBC cabinet member for regeneration met traders in Caerphilly town centre recently to promote an exciting exhibition outlining plans for the future of the town.
Cllr Davies spoke at a meeting of the Caerphilly Independent Retailers Partnership and provided more details about a special public consultation which is taking place in the town centre at the moment.
Residents and traders can have their say on a number of key development sites within the town at the exhibition in the Visit Caerphilly Centre (Tourist Information Centre) until 31st October.
The exhibition will give local people an opportunity to contribute to the new emerging Town Centre Action Plan that sets out how Caerphilly will be developed over the coming years.
“Town centre regeneration is a key priority for the council and in order for Caerphilly to develop and grow, a clear vision is needed to drive the town forward,” said Cllr Ron Davies. “Caerphilly offers shoppers and visitors a unique, historic experience and we need to capitalise on these benefits and encourage even more investment opportunities. I would encourage as many people as possible to go along and be part of this exciting chance to help shape the future of Caerphilly.”
The 2002 Town Centre Action Plan is now outdated, so feedback from this new consultation exercise will help in developing a new action plan. Comments from the community will influence the proposals and polices that are included in this action plan, ensuring that it responds positively to local concerns and needs.
The exhibition is open to the public all this month and officers from the council will be on hand to answer any questions on the following dates:
- Wednesday 20th October 3pm – 5.30pm
- Saturday 23rd October – 10am – 12.30pm
- Monday 25th October 3pm – 5.30pm
If you have any queries regarding this exhibition, please telephone the council’s Urban Renewal section on 01495 235067.
