People’s views are being sought on a draft action plan which aims to shape the future of valley communities in Neath Port Talbot over the next five years.
Roundtable discussions have already been held across the county borough last October. Many projects were identified at these consultation events by residents and partners and ideas were fed back into the draft plans.
Everyone now has the opportunity to comment on these plans by visiting the Council’s website www.npt.gov.uk and clicking on ‘have your say’.
This new action plan will take over from the current valley strategy so the Council is calling on anyone with an interest to make their views known.
Residents and community organisations are also being invited to come forward if they can lead or help to deliver any of the proposed projects. Ideas are also being welcomed.
Each of the five valleys in Neath Port Talbot is being looked at individually, Afan, Neath, Dulais, Swansea and Amman.
Some of the topics under consideration include tourism development, improving health and well being, encouraging social enterprises and safer communities as well as transport links, improving skills and ensuring young people’s education needs are provided for.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Ali Thomas, looks forward to receiving comments on the action plan. He said, “The plan sets out how we can work together to improve the lives of all citizens who live, work and volunteer in our valley communities.
“It is everyone’s plan – we all need to help deliver it, so your comments will be welcomed.”
The consultation period will be open until 30th June. Views, comments and suggestions will be taken on board and the final valleys strategy action plan will be published.
