Residents are being invited to help shape Swansea Council’s Welsh language policy.
The Local Authority’s Welsh Language Scheme is being updated in line with Welsh Language Board recommendations that schemes be reviewed every three to four years.
Swansea Council has produced an online questionnaire to give people a chance to influence the scheme and how the Council will implement it.
The updated scheme aims to build on the strengths of the existing programme while clarifying some areas.
The plan also reflects some social changes including an increased demand for service provision through the medium of Welsh, changes in technology and new or impending legislation.
It also aligns the Welsh language more closely with other equality issues within the Council’s Equality and Diversity Scheme that can be seen at http://www.swansea.gov.uk/equalityscheme .
To view the draft Welsh Language Scheme and take part in the questionnaire go to the Council website at http://www.swansea.gov.uk/WLSCIG
The questionnaire is available in English and Welsh.
