Grown-up explorers and young adventurers are in for a treat with a real-life treasure hunt providing a great excuse to get outdoors this half term.
North Wales Borderlands, taking in Wrexham, Flintshire and Denbighshire, is championing the return of the good old-fashioned family day out… with a special technological twist.
North Wales Borderlands has embraced the growing sport of Geocaching – a modern-day treasure hunt in which users find hidden ‘caches’ or treasure using clues gained via iPhone, the Internet and GPS equipment.
Geocachers navigate their way to the caches using a map, clues, tips and pictures that have been left by other members of the Geocache community.
Outdoor leisure and clothing brand Regatta has got involved with North Wales Borderlands’ campaign, providing families with some very exciting prizes along the way.
Said a spokesperson for North Wales Borderlands: “We really hope that local families will take up the challenge and get out exploring our area ! What better incentive than fresh air and hidden treasure – all for free!
“North Wales Borderlands has hidden 10 brand new caches at popular attractions across the three counties which we need you to find. Each cache will have a log book for you and your family to sign, a certificate to collect and if you find all ten caches, a chance to win a weekend away courtesy of NWB!”
To support the launch of the Geocaching campaign, Regatta will be hiding extra special prizes at one cache per day during half term, which will help you during the rest of your adventures.
