Helen Mary Jones: Labour’s ‘Carry-on Regardless’ manifesto to maintain their conservative agenda

Plaid Cymru has responded to Labour’s manifesto launch, saying that it’s a continuation of the same old conservative agenda that Blair and Brown have followed over the past decade.

Plaid’s Director of Elections Helen Mary Jones AM highlighted the fact that Labour has ignored the plight of vulnerable people – including pensioners who can’t afford heat their home and feed themselves with the current state pension. She said the manifesto is further proof that Gordon Brown still prefers to prioritise nuclear weapons rather than the people who need government’s help the most.

Plaid Cymru Director of Elections, Helen Mary Jones AM said:

“This is a continuation of Blair’s conservative policies – bringing the private sector into public services and doing all they can to woo the voters of south east England. It’s more of the same from a party that has betrayed it’s supporters and failed those who need government’s help the most.

“Where is the help for pensioners in this manifesto? Where is the pledge to address the severe under-funding of Welsh communities by the Westminster government? They don’t even mention the billions of pounds they’re wasting on nuclear weapons.

“This is a ‘Carry-on regardless’ manifesto from a party which has led us into the deepest economic crisis in living memory.”
