Help Clean-up Slade Bay, Gower with Just a Click

Slade Bay also known as ‘The Sands’ on the South Gower coast, near Swansea has been shortlisted in an international competition sponsored by Corona Extra beer to receive funding for a regeneration and clean-up operation.

Members of the public can vote for the beach they consider the most deserving of this activity via the website before 29 August 2010.

This year, web users uploaded a total of 464 beaches from 14 different European countries that they felt were in need of regeneration. From these nominated beaches, the jury of the competition has shortlisted the following ten with Slade Bay coming in the top ten.

Corona Save the Beach is a pioneering initiative to promote the preservation of beaches. Corona Extra is proactively taking a stand to raise public awareness of beach conservation and fund the regeneration of some of the dirtiest beaches in Europe. The premium beer brand is committed to fully recovering at least one beach a year in partnership with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and its world-recognised Blue Flag programme.

Slade Bay is a secluded beach in an unspoilt natural habitat also known as ‘The Sands’ on the South Gower coast, near Swansea.  Because the beach is a ten minute walk from the road it’s not easy to get the rubbish removed.  “Please vote for this beach” begs one environmentally concerned web user.

Voting is open until 29 August 2010. Please visit www.coronasavethebeach.org and vote now!
