A successful economic scheme, which has created more than 50 jobs in Gwynedd, has come to an end, but opportunities still open for businesses large and small to get support and guidance to help them establish and grow.
Llwyddo yng Ngwynedd is part of Gwynedd’s Rural Development Plan and the Galluogi (Enable) section of the scheme has now closed as funding has run out.
The aim of the scheme, which is run by the Gwynedd Economic Partnership (PEG), is to encourage local people to venture into business.
PEG members are eager to celebrate the success of the Galluogi scheme as it has promoted and eased entrepreneurial growth in Gwynedd and has helped develop strong ventures which will vary the rural economy, increase the work opportunities and range of economies available in rural Gwynedd.
One local business founded through the help of the Galluogi scheme is Bwyty Lleu cafe at Dinas Dinlle. It has received financial support towards the costs of setting up the restaurant including kitchen equipment, furniture and essential renovation and safety work on the building. The venture aims to create 15 new jobs in the area – a mixture of full and part-time.
Over the past 18 months, since the scheme has been operating, the project has paid out grants to the value of £500,000; supported 32 new ventures and seen around 58 new jobs being created.
Dafydd Iwan, the Gwynedd Economic Partnership chairman, said:
“The creation of 32 new and exciting ventures with the support of the Enable project is testament to its success and also shows the people of the area are able and eager to venture into the business world.
“Though this scheme is now closed there are many other schemes in place where people can get help and guidance on how to set up a business and how to make it grow. Gwynedd Council’s Economy and Community Department officers can offer advice on what support is available, I would urge anyone who is interested to contact them.”
